The DU Open Day saw an unexpected rush of aspirants on North Campus on Monday.
According to DU officials, BA (honours) mathematics seemed like a hot topic among the visitors with many asking for its admission criteria and career prospects. "With just two more Open Days left to go, nearly 1,200 admission-seekers and their parents visited the Open Day session on Monday. After appearing in CATE and the BBS/BBE/BFIA entrance test on Sunday, many students wanted to know about other course options now. Amid queries of various kinds, many students with an aggregate of 88%-92% wanted to know if BA (honours) mathematics was a good option," said Gurpret Singh Tuteja, deputy dean, students' welfare.
He said many students who thought it was unlikely for them to get into BCom (honours) in a campus college also wanted to explore the option of studying math instead.
The university also sold 700-800 information bulletins on Monday.
