Haryana launches school mapping project

The Haryana government has launched a GPS project to identify areas where new schools need to be opened.

The project is likely to be completed by this month-end, a spokesman of the Education Department said here 7th June.

The department has purchased 21 GPS devices, one for each district, for the purpose, he said.

"High school and senior secondary level schooling facilities are available in every 2.28 km in the state but there are some habitations without secondary schooling. To track these gaps, the mapping project has been initiated," the spokesperson said.

The Education Department also initiated a scheme in which citizens, who think they can teach, can submit video entries for any lesson or chapter of any subject for classes I-XII based on Haryana school syllabus, he said.

The selected entries will be used for Edusat programme, an interactive satellite-based distance education system, he said, adding that the video lectures should be filled with animation and usage of teaching aids, reflecting creative teaching techniques, and clear vocal delivery.
