Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said the government would provide fellowships to students for environment-related research.
Speaking at a function to mark the World Environment Day, Chavan said clean environment is the necessity of the future and the need of the hour was to involve the youth.
"We will provide fellowships to students for research in the field of Environment,"he added.
Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and the state environment department had signed an MoU with IIT Mumbai, VJTI Mumbai, Vishveshvarya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, and Walchand Institute of Technology, Sangli, for this purpose, he said.
