The Karnataka High Court directed the state government to issue a notification by June 8, fixing the fee structure in private engineering colleges as per recommendations of the Justice Padmaraj Committee on fee fixation.
A pision bench, comprising Justices Manjula Chellur and Satyanarayana passed the orders on petitions filed by the Private Engineering Colleges Federation, challenging the May 3 circular of the state government fixing the fee structure.
The state had fixed Rs 32,500 as fee for Government quota seats and Rs 1.25 lakh for seats in management quota, which was not acceptable to several colleges, who wanted the Padmaraj Committee recommended fee structure.
The court said those colleges which have already accepted the State government fixed fee would not come under the ambit of its order.
