British Council has announced the Young Creative Entrepreneur (YCE) 2011 Awards in the sectors of fashion, design, screen, interactive, performing arts and publishing. The award is open to Indian entrepreneurs between 21 and 40 years of age group with at least two to three years experience, working within these creative industries in India.
The YCE award aims to reward the students for their contribution in their respective sectors and provide them a platform to begin a dialogue with their UK counterparts.
The winners from each sector will go on a study tour of their respective industry to the UK. They will get to interact with industry leaders there and play an important role in increasing collaborative opportunities between the UK and India. They also get to attend a relevant trade event that helps broaden their horizon along with winners from other countries. The last date for application is June 6.
The YCE award has been running since 2005, focussing on building creative entrepreneurs. Last year, for the first time, the programme included its own award ceremony, announcing India's brightest emerging entrepreneurs in seven different sectors — interactive, screen, communications, design, performing arts, publishing, and fashion.
Winners included the best emerging talent and each of them gained from the opportunity that the UK tour provided, connecting and engaging with peers during trade events and meeting sector and industry leaders. For more information, visit the website (www.british council.org.in/yce).
