All 15,000 teachers selected through CET would get jobs: Darda

All the 15,000 primary school teachers selected through the Common Entrance Test last year would get jobs by August 31 this year, Maharashtra Minister of Education, Rajendra Darda said here.

"As many as 15,000 teachers were selected for schools run by Zilla Parishads and Local Self Bodies after they qualified by appearing for CET last year," Darda told reporters.

Earlier the cut-off date (for recruitment) was May 31, 2011. However, it has been extended to August 31, 2011 as it was found that there were not enough vacancies to accommodate all successful candidates by that date.

"The selection was done considering the number of posts that will fall vacant by May 31, 2011," Darda said.

"Due to this extension, the teachers will definitely get jobs," he added.

Speaking on the proposed Fee Regulation Act, Darda said, "A meeting of Parents-Teachers Association (PTA), NGOs and students has been organised tomorrow in this regard. We (Joint Committee) will listen to their opinions on various directives and changes that are required in the Bill."

"On June 1, we have also invited the directors of educational institutions. They will also put forward their opinions and after that we will discuss the Bill, clause by clause," he added.

The Bill, expected to be tabled in the coming session of the Assembly, will be applicable to aided as well as unaided schools under SSC, CBSE, ICSE and other Boards.
