India builds school for Indian ex-servicemen in Nepal

Indian ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood inaugurated a new school building constructed with aid from India for the children of its former servicemen in the country's western  Pokhara town.
 
The new school building is a token of gratitude from India for the invaluable services provided by the ex-servicemen from Nepal, Sood said at the inauguration of the building of Nepal Bharat Maitri

Vidyalaya located in the Pension Paying Office (PPO) Complex at Pokhara.
 
He expressed the hope that it would significantly contribute to the educational needs of their children as  also of other Nepalese students.
 
India provided a grant of Rs. 5 crore for the construction of the building under the Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Programme aimed at providing quality education to the children of over one lakh ex-servicemen in Nepal, according to a statement from the Indian Embassy here.
 
The two countries in August 2006 inked a pact for the setting up a higher secondary school affiliated with the New Delhi-based Central Board of Secondary Education to ensure consistency in educational pattern for the children of Nepalese ex-servicemen of the Indian Army.
 
The new infrastructure will help create better facilities for over 550 students, about half of whom are girls.
 
India has assisted in the construction of two projects and the work is on-going on four other projects at a total cost of NRs. 20.97 crores in Kaski District.
