Eight of the top 25 rank-holders in the civil services examination for 2010 made the cut in their first attempt. Four, including topper S Divyadharshini from Chennai, made the cut in the second attempt. Nine, including the second and third on the merit list, got through in their third attempts.
There are 151 vacancies for IAS, 35 for IFS and 150 for IPS. The results of two candidates have been withheld, and candidature of 39 declared provisional. The consolidated reserve list includes 242 candidates. Twenty-eight physically challenged, 14 orthopedically challenged, five visually impaired and nine hearing impaired got selected. While 148 are from the scheduled castes, 74 from the scheduled tribes and 270 are from other backward classes. The marks are expected to be published within a fortnight.
