While Std X students are anxiously awaiting their results and at the same time reading their online admission booklets to understand the process, some students are yet to get hold of them. The education department issued these booklets to all schools in the last week of April, but some educational institutes are yet to distribute them.
St Xavier’s School in Nerul has decided to distribute the booklets in the first week of June, as many students are not in the city.
“Once we give the booklets to the students, we also need to explain how to fill the form online. We need all students to be present for the session,” said Manisha Andhansare, principal of St Xavier’s School. Her school has scheduled the session for June 2.
Similarly, students of MMM Girls High School in Juhu have also been asked to collect their booklets after the results are out. “Students are free to come and pick their booklets any day, but most of them are spending their vacation in other cities. Once the results are out, everyone will be given their booklets,” said Vibhuti Desai, principal of MMM Girls High School. Students of Fatima High School, Vidyavihar, are a confused lot. While their friends from other schools are already discussing the online admission process, these students are clueless about what needs to be done. “We haven’t been told anything about the booklets. We don’t know when we will get them,” said a student.
After repeated attempts, the school officials were unavailable for comment.
Education officers from every ward in the city have informed principals about the booklets and all schools have received them.
“Schools have been informed to distribute booklets as soon as possible. Students should also be given a thorough session on how to fill the online forms. The state education department distributed the booklets in advance so that students don’t get stuck,” said S Pawar, education inspector of the H Ward.

The online admission process has been vexing and nerve-racking for a significant section of Mumbai’s students. Last year, many top-scorers were forced to go in for offline admission after severe confusion; and a repeat is the last thing that students want this year. So, both the education department and schools should establish a system that reduces tension and stress for students instead of adding to it.
