UP directs DMs to shut down fake universities

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government directed the concerned district magistrates to shut down nine fake universities running in different parts of the state.

'Taking note of the information provided by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in its website about fake universities, the state government has directed the DMs of Allahabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Aligarh, Mathura, Pratapgarh and Noida to lodge FIRs against these universities and seal their campuses,' Education Secretary Kamran Rizvi said.

He said the fake institutions are Mahila Gram Vidyapeeth University, Prayag and Hindi Vidyapeeth, Prayag in Allahahad, Indian Education Council of UP in Lucknow, National University of Electro Homoeopathy and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose University, Aligarh.

Also in the list are UP University Kosikala and Gurukal University, Vrindavan in Mathura, Maharana Pratap Shikshan Niketan University in Pratapgarh and Indraprastha Shiksha Parishad in Noida,
