The inauguration of a livestock training- cum- demonstration centre for self-help group members under the Japanese Government’s “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP)” scheme will be held in South 24 Parganas of West Bengal on May 6. Mitsuo Kawaguchi, consul-general of Japan, Kolkata will inaugurate the centre on that day.
Under the Japanese government’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) Scheme, on behalf of the Government of Japan, consul general of Japan in Kolkata signed a grant contract with Sanjeeb Bhattacharya, general secretary of Baradrone Social Welfare Institution (BSWI) in South 24 Parganas of West Bengal for an amount of US$ 51,612 i.e. Rs. 25,03,190 on November 20, 2009. Since then, the organization has utilized this grant to construct a livestock training- cum- demonstration centre for self-help group members. As many as 350 rural women and their families will be benefited from this.
