Bharathidasan University will launch Post Graduate Diploma in Information Technology exclusively for teachers of schools across Tamil Nadu associated with the SUITS programme (School-University-Industry Tie-Ups Scheme) in the current academic year, its Vice-Chancellor K. Meena said on Tuesday.
The part-time one-year course would be offered by the University's Institute of Entrepreneurship and Career Development (IECD) with updated syllabus to infuse IT skills into teachers, Ms. Meena said distributing gold medals and certificates to State-level toppers of IT courses under the SUITS programme 2010-11 during the passing out ceremony held at the University's Khajamalai campus in the city.
The diploma course with hands-on training would be conducted after school hours for the teachers irrespective of the subject they taught, the Vice-Chancellor said.
Ms. Meena said all the 10,818 students who wrote the final examinations under the SUITS scheme in March had got through successfully. The curriculum under the SUITS scheme had been designed carefully with practical hands-on training forming part of the course.
A total number of 55 schools had enrolled under the SUITS scheme in 2010-11, Ms.Meena said while calling upon the IECD to enrol 100 schools.
The Vice-Chancellor distributed gold medals and rank certificates to 12 students besides handing over certificates to second and third rank holders.
The Director, IECD, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchi Dr. K.Parthasarathy and S.Kathiravan, Executive Director, Hi-End Software Integrated, Coimbatore, spoke on the occasion.
