The country's most prominent management entrance examination, Common Admission Test (CAT), will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Management- Calcutta in 2011. The switch over of the responsibility took place in March this year.
Faculty at IIM-C Janakiraman Moorthy who has been newly appointed as convener for CAT 2011 said, "The internal process of the taking over of the responsibility is over. Now, we have started working on the modalities of the test for this year. However, it is too early to declare anything concrete on details like what new aspects will be introduced in the test this year and so on."
Moorthy said that CAT will continue it's partnership with Prometric for conducting the test online.
While IIM-C will conduct CAT in 2011, IIM-Lucknow will lend them support in the process. Moorthy said, "Though IIM-C will be leading the responsibility for conducting CAT we will be supported by IIM-L. We will be in touch with the rest of the IIMs and get support from them as well in various ways."
While IIM-Ahmedabad conducted the prestigious examination in 2008 and 2009 in association with IIM-Bangalore, in 2010 the responsibility of the CAT convener was handed over to the IIM-Lucknow.
