Chennai: The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute (MSME-DI), Chennai, is all set to launch a distance-learning programme on Enterprise Development from October 2 this year.
In a statement, the Director S. Sivagnanam said that the institute would be offering 75 modules on how to set up a successful micro enterprise for first-generation entrepreneurs.
Later this would be expanded to look at sector-specific programmes on food processing, chemicals and other industry-oriented courses, he said.
After the six-month programme certificates would be given and they would be valid for jobs, loans under the Prime Ministers Employment Guarantee Programme (PMEGP) rules, he said.
The course could be available to students from rural areas through Rural Service Centre kiosks set up by the State Government.
