Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) told that it has lost the role of mentoring the upcoming IIM at Udaipur in Rajasthan to IIM-
Indore.
"Yes a decision has been taken that IIM-Indore will mentor IIM-Udaipur," Director IIM-A Prof Samir Barua said, confirming the development.
The decision was taken by the Union Ministry of Human Resource and Development.
Asked the reason behind the decision by the HRD ministry, Barua said he would not like to comment and added, "We have never said no for mentoring IIM, Udaipur."
In June last year, IIM-A had announced that it would be mentoring the upcoming IIM in Rajasthan.
The institute was to provide the curriculum content as well as faculty on deputation had the need arisen.
"IIM, Udaipur is expected to begin its first academic session this year itself and efforts are underway to appoint its director," sources at IIM-A said.
In the face of faculty shortage, the mentoring role for IIM-A could have meant resource constraint for it, thereby forcing it to put on hold plans to set up campus abroad, they said.
