Several final year commerce students who took the economics paper on Monday claimed they could not complete their paper.
Most students complained that the theory paper was lengthy and the single booklet that the supervisor handed out to them was not enough. “I could only attempt questions that totaled to 70 marks. Then I ran out of space. Despite asking for a supplement, I was not given one,” said Akshay Pradhan, whose exam centre was MMK College.
Like Akshay, many were forced to leave out at least one question, as they were unable to condense their answers. The University of Mumbai recently announced it would hand out only one answer booklet to each student. “Colleges had given us lengthy notes from where we studied throughout the year. It is unfair that I had to leave out a question I knew,” said Paritosh Gandhi.
University officials said they had already informed colleges to train students on how to write in brief.
