Women need education to bring out their inherent multi-tasking abilities to the fore, said D. Purandeswari, Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development, here on Saturday.
Speaking at Guru Shree Shantivijai Jain College for Women, after inaugurating the GSS Centre of Women Empowerment, Dr. Purandeswari said the multi-tasking capabilities were inbuilt in them. The right kind of education would help in bringing to light this talent, she said.
Education played an important role for both the women in rural and urban areas to empower them.
“The only road to women empowerment is through education, which will help them to realise their rights and fight against atrocities,” she said.
Sharing details about the objective and mission of the Centre, P. Gautam Vaid, secretary of the college, said it would inculcate entrepreneurial attitude among young girls to make them ‘job givers' rather than seekers. It would provide database on policies and programmes of government and NGOs, venture capitals and enterprises suitable for women and to help self-help group women to get financial support by identifying sources.
Earlier M.K. Malathi, principal of the college, spoke.
