The Bar Council of India (BCI) has urged the Union HRD Minister and the CBSE to introduce Law as a subject from 12th standard in the Humanities group.
Speaking to reporters at the announcement of the first AIBE (All India Bar Exams) results, BCI chairman and Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium said the issue had been taken up with the CBSE and the HRD Ministry and was still at a consultative stage.
"We have proposed that the Law stream be included in 10+2 as an optional subject in Humanities. We had talks with the Ministry of Human Resource Development on this issue," he said.
BCI is the apex regulatory body for regulating the professional conduct and registration of advocates to practise.
