The Pondicherry University (PU) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Joliet Junior College and College of Lake County (CLC) for partnering, designing, implementing and administering a series of programmes.
According to S. Loganathan, the Registrar of the University, the MoU would facilitate an exchange of students between the two colleges in the United States and the PU. The first batch of about 12 students from the US would arrive at PU this May along with one or two lead members of their faculty.
Special classes would be conducted for 21 for the visiting students. The colleges have shown interest in courses under Humanities and Social Sciences but the MoU does not restrict the students to these subjects, he said.
The MoU would be valid for three years. The colleges have signed the MoUs on an “exploration” basis and would extend it beyond three years if satisfied with the progress. The PU would also send students and faculty members to the US-based colleges under the exchange programme.
