A modern Footwear Design and Development Institute will soon come up in Jodhpur town of Rajasthan.
"Union Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot will lay the foundation stone for this institute complex in sprawling 37 Bigh plot in Mandaur next month" reliable sources said.
Keeping in view the project potentials for boost in production, export, technological support and training to the state's famous leather and foot wear cottage industry sector, Chief Minister Gehlot has taken this initiative for free allotment of the land worth around Rs 14.2 crore for the project.
"The Chief Minister has made special efforts for getting sanctioned from the Centre, the project which aims at equipping and updating with modern world-class designing, export, management and technological skills to about two lakh people engaged in this cottage industry in different districts of the state.
The Commerce Ministry would provide Rs 99 crore for the institute which on commencement would run nine courses in designing, production, export and management for artisans." sources further added.
