Coimbatore: The Veterinary University Training and Research Centre on June 9 and 10 would offer a free intensive training programme on goat rearing.
The training programme is likely to benefit farmers and entrepreneurs involved in livestock farming.
It also offers technical advice for establishing new livestock farms, prevention and treatment of livestock and poultry diseases.
Goat farming has reduced because of shrinkage of pasturelands, ban on grazing in forest areas and shortage of labour for range rearing of goats.
The present marketing of live goats and goat meat is not beneficial for the producers as it has too many intermediaries. Hence, the training is expected to be profitable for goat farmers.
Those interested can contact the centre at Kalappati Pirivu, Saravanampatti P.O.; or call 0422-2669965, for details and registration.
