JD Birla to offer new courses

Kolkata: JD Birla Institute is waiting for the court orders to grant them the permission to launch five new courses this year.

“After we presented the Executive Counsellor of Jadavpur University with the proposal to introduce new courses, he readily agreed and passed our proposal. The court is going to declare its decision on March 25, 2009 and then the admission for the new courses will be accepted from July,” said Deepali Singhee, principal of JD Birla, Home Science Department.

There was only one course that is BSc in Home Science but now we have separated the specialization courses into mainly four courses in which students can pursue their graduations:

·          B Sc Honours in Textile Science, Clothing and Fashion Studies

·          B Sc Honours in Food Science and Nutrition Management

·          B Sc Honours in Human Development

·          B Sc Honours in Interior Designing

The master degree courses that are also being introduced along with these graduation degrees are:

·          M Sc in Textile Science, Clothing and Fashion Studies

·          M Sc in Food Science and Nutrition Management.

·          Post Graduate Diploma in Hospitality Management.
