The IIM's new centre here would commence functioning from the academic year starting June, its director has said.
"Already the process of recruiting expert faculty members has started. We have had overwhelming response and as many 365 applications were received for 12 positions of full time faculty", Prafulla Agnihotri told reporters yesterday.
"Some applicants which we received were from the US, UAE, France and Philippines", he said.
The board of governors had appointed special panels comprising experts in respective disciplines for the selection of faculty members, Agnihotri said.
Adding it has been decided to admit 60 students in the beginning, he said the curriculum and course content are being prepared and decisions on fee structure would be made public before April-May 2011.
IIM-T had plans to introduce short-term courses addressing the needs of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Tier 2 towns and tailor made courses for any industry evincing interest in sending their executives to IIM T, he said.
Agnihotri said as many as 15 MNCs and large industrial houses had come forward to collaborate with the institution, which is the country's 11th IIM. The collaboration would include providing exhaustive summer training, hands on experiences to budding managers and educational choice through holistic, functional and relevant case studies, he said.
The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) had initiated the construction of permanent infrastructure at the 174 acre site along Trichy-Pudukottai highway, he said, and was hopeful that IIM-T would start functioning in its own home during its third year. Mentored by IIM Bangalore, IIM Trichy will function temporarily at the National Institute of Technology campus.
