It was raining placements at IIFT with companies making a beeline to recruit the students. A total of 96 companies participated in the placement process for a batch of 209 students. With 37 new recruiters, the placements were completed with offers made by 77 companies. The finance sector was the largest recruiter with 20% of the batch being placed in it.
In spite of more than 27% increase in the batch size, it recorded an increase of more than 10% in the average domestic salary and 100% placements. The average salary is 11.6 lakh as per latest standings. Global placements with job offers across the world such as in Europe, Singapore, Middle East and Africa further accelerated the momentum. Organizations namely Olam International, ADM Agro, Aditya Birla Group, Emirates NBD, Triton Group and Jumbo Electronics offered varied profiles with hefty pay packages.
First time recruiters like energy giant Shell offered its Graduate Lead Program and ADM Agro offered its Commercial Trainee program. Corporate and Placement advisor, Munish Bhargava said “It is really heartening to see students getting job profiles of their choice in diverse sectors.”
This year also marked the arrival of big brands on campus with Procter & Gamble recruiting for the first time. Sales and Marketing profiles were offered by a number of FMCG companies. ITC, Colgate Palmolive and Perfetti Van Melle offered profiles in this sector along with Godrej Consumer products. The telecom sector too trooped in with Airtel, Vodafone & Idea Cellular while the automobile sector marked its presence through Tata Motors, Hero Honda, Bajaj Auto & TVS Motors. Pharmaceutical giant Ranbaxy also recruited for its Management Trainee program.
The highest international package offered at the campus was $150,000 by Olam International and the highest domestic package offered was Rs15.51 lakh.
“Despite an increased batch size, students got plenty of choices in terms of sectors, domain and the profiles to choose the best companies to work for. This reaffirmed the faith and confidence that recruiters and corporate across the globe have in IIFT and its students”, said KT Chacko, director of IIFT.
