A national-level technical festival, Dhanus-2011, organised by the College of Engineering at Kallooppara near Mallappally, was inaugurated by Joseph M. Puthussery, MLA, on Friday.
In his inaugural speech, the MLA stressed the role of engineers in the development of a nation. Jacob Thomas V., college Principal, presided. K. Paulose Jacob, head of the Computer Science Department of Cochin University for Science and Technology (Cusat), was the guest of honour.
RajKumar T., faculty coordinator, welcomed the gathering. Alex Kannamala, president of Parent-Teacher Association, Jobymol Jacob, head of the department of Electronics and Computer Science, Swaroop George, college senate chairman, also spoke.
According to Mr. Thomas, 300 students from different parts of the State and outside Kerala are participating in the two-day symposium. Talks on Embedded System, Real Time Systems, Free and Open Source Programming, ARM work shop, etc., will be held at the two-day expo, he said.
Technical paper presentations, competitions in circuit debugging, web designing, virus evacuation, Linux Guru, etc, have been scheduled as part of the annual event. The Indian Space Research Organisation has also organised an exhibition at the two-day technical expo.
The exhibition will come to a close on Saturday.
