The present-day overall development in various sectors, including the technological and industrial fronts, provides more opportunities in terms of career progression. Taking due advantage of this growth, the educated youth should grab the opportunities available, said Mayil Vahanan Natarajan Vice Chancellor of the Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai.
Delivering the convocation address of the Nehru Memorial College at Puthanampatti in the district on Friday, Mr. Mayil Vahanan Natarajan said that the current growth-oriented environment provides multiple channels for career development. Talented and educated youth should identify the right field and work hard to excel in their chosen area, he added .
Emphasising the impact of meditation on personality development, Mr. Mayil Vahanan Natarajan appealed to the youth to practise meditation and realise the importance of keeping mind under control. He pointed out that a majority of youth were not fully aware of the importance of silence and meditation and preferred listening to blaring music or watching television. The future of India lay in the hands of young graduates. Youth should also develop the skill for evolving effective systematic solutions as part of nation-building exercise.
Founder principal of the college M. Ponnambalam, and K. Ramasami, principal of the college, said that the college catered to the higher educational needs of students hailing from rural areas. Thevaraya N. Subbiah, Visiting Professor (International) the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University was among those present. In all 800 graduates received degree certificates on the occasion.
D. Mayil Vahanan Natarajan also presented gold medals to the University toppers.
