IIM Shillong added another feather to its cap by organizing the “Voluntary Blood Donation- cum- Awareness Programme” in the campus on January 22. Conducted by Pasteur Institute in collaboration with the ECoBiZ club of IIM Shillong and Lions Club of Shillong, it received an enthusiastic response from the donors which included students and faculty members of IIM Shillong and members of Lions club.
The function started with Dr NF Dkhar of the Pasteur Institute briefing the donors on the importance of blood donation and social awareness in this regard. He added “It does not matter how much quantity of blood is donated, but what matters is the quality”. He also expressed optimism about the long term association of Pasteur Institute and IIM Shillong. BNS Didan called upon the other student bodies of IIM Shillong “to utilize the principles of management for social welfare.”
Professor Natalie West Kharkongor, the faculty coordinator of the ECoBiz club expressed her satisfaction over the good work done by the students and said that the newly inducted club will go a long way in blending management expertise with social upliftment and environmental protection. She also mentioned the importance of such activities in our society. Apart from the medical team of Pasteur institute and office bearers of the ECoBiZ club taking care of all arrangements meticulously, the blood donation camp was also graced by the presence of Jasbir Singh, the president of Lions Club, Shillong, Dr.Jenny from the Bansara Eye Clinic and senior faculty members of IIM Shillong amongst others.
