Accreditation to CBSE Schools

Updated on: Tuesday, March 24, 2009

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to provide accreditation to its schools.

In a move aimed at setting up quality standards, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is all set to give accreditation to its schools based on the quality of education it provides before commencement of the next academic session.

A committee has been set up by the CBSE to frame guidelines for assessment and accreditation. The committee will also suggest detailed modalities on formation of separate committees for the purpose of accreditation.

Accreditation will be based on the quality of education, teacher-pupil ratio, mode of teaching, students participation in the teaching-learning process, library and other infrastructure facilities among other things, Vineeth Joshi, chairman, CBSE.

Both schools and parents welcomed the move. The CBSE will be giving accreditation to 10,000 affiliated schools across the country.
