Delhi to get 14 more schools at a cost of Rs 230 crore

In an effort to enhance educational infrastructure, Delhi Government today cleared a proposal to construct 14 schools across the city at a cost of
over Rs 230 crore.
The Expenditure Finance Committee of Delhi Government gave the go ahead for the schools, seven of which will be constructed by National Projects Construction Corporation (NPCC) Ltd while the remaining will be built by DSIIDC.

The Committee meeting presided by Finance Minister A K Walia cleared proposals worth Rs 238.35 crore out of which 231.36 crore is for construction of the schools.

Walia said in order to enhance educational infrastructure, it has been decided to construct more schools in Delhi.

He said National Projects Construction Corporation (NPCC) Ltd will construct seven school buildings at Sarita Vihar A Block, Dwarka Sector-1, Dwarka Sector-13, Dwarka Sector-19, Madanpur Khadar Phase-I, Madanpur Khadar Phase-II and Madanpur Khadar Phase-III at an estimated cost of Rs 102.19 crore.

He said DSIIDC will construct school buildings at Rohini Sector-1 Rohini Sector-2, Rohini Sector-3, Rohini Sector-21, Rohini Sector-21, Rohini Sector-22 and Rohini Sector-23. The estimated cost of these seven schools is Rs 129.17 crore.

The new schools will be earthquake resistant and will have provisions for fire-fighting system, rainwater harvesting and energy efficient fittings.

He said the EFC also sanctioned a revised amount of Rs6.99 crore for further strengthening the Bawana drain. The original estimate was Rs 5.76 crore.
