SRM, a top city based educational institute initiated free IAS coaching centre for candidates aspiring to clear Civil Services examinations.
Inaugurating the training programme, N. Vittal, former Central Vigilance Commissioner, said that every government job has a much wider scope than any private sector post as they reached out to people.
Speaking at the pogramme, V. Irai Anbu, Secretary, Environment and Forests, said the civil services was for those who would love to work with people to solve their problems. Individual initiatives have resulted in changing society, he said, emphasising that civil servants could suggest and introduce policies for eradication of poverty.
In the first batch of free IAS coaching, only 75 were selected out of 750 applications received and more batches would be added, told the varsity sources.
