Ranchos school is going places. Another one and unique at that, is being set up in Gangtok by the Drukpa lineage of Mahayana Buddhism, which is running Druk Padma School in Leh, where the climax of Bollywood hit 3 Idiots was shot. It would be one-of-its-kind eco-school in the country, as only bamboo would be used in its structure.
The school would provide effective modern education while maintaining traditional values and cultures of Buddhism for equipping children for a life in the 21st century. It would also provide residential facility for children from Sikkims remote areas and a programme of sponsorship will ensure the poorest are not excluded. According to a spokesperson, for Drukpa Lineage, a team of worlds eminent architects has been assigned to prepare the schools building. The school would be managed by Live to Love foundation of which the superstar Aamir Khan is a brand ambassador. The school is inspired by the vision of 12th Gyalwang Drukpa, head of the 800-year-old Drukpa lineage of Mahayana School of Buddhism and the foundation.
"We want to impart quality education to the poor intelligent children of Sikkim, who are grounded in Buddhist philosophy and local culture", said Gyalwang Drukpa, about the need of such a school in Sikkim.
