Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (SIMSR) in academic association with School of Management, Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok - Thailand and Deakin University, Australia organised the sixth SIMSR Asia Marketing Conference on January 2nd and 3rd, 2011 at the SIMSR auditorium. 70 research papers were presented and discussed on various topics under the theme of the conference "Marketing in Transition". It was a platform where marketing academicians and practitioners teamed up to present and discuss the latest trends and research findings in the field of marketing.
The institute organised this in order to emerge as an important centre for marketing and business research studies in India and the world, as India grows in strategic importance in the new global economic order. This will also help the institute to realise its mission and vision to be among the top 100 B-Schools in the world by the year 2025 and to undertake research and consultancy for the benefit of industry and society. The participants for this event were marketing practitioners, academicians, PhD scholars, researchers and students.
"The research conference documents were called for research abstracts. We received around 127 abstracts and all the abstracts were blind reviewed by our panel of advisory board - 100 abstracts were cleared by the panel and finally 70 full research papers were received," says Professor Narashiman, Director General of SIMSR.
This was truly a unique conference, where not only academicians, PhD scholars and researchers presented papers and discussed new concepts of marketing but industry professionals also attended and presented papers on current marketing practices. This event was a true fusion of marketing concepts and practices. Participants had to register themselves for the conference either as a researcher presenting the paper or as an audience interested in the research conference.
