Monitoring panel to help improve education in Haryana schools

Aiming at creating education friendly atmosphere in government schools by ensuring participation of villagers in academic activities, Haryana government has decided to constitute a monitoring committee at village level across the state.
The committee will not only keep a tab on various academic and school-related activities but also make sure availability of essential infrastructure there, Haryana Education and Health Minister, Geeta Bhukkal said.

Bhukkal was interacting with mediapersons after listening to public grievances at her residence here.

"Villagers will be included in the monitoring committee who will ensure that various school funds released by the government from time to time for purchasing dresses and books for students, maintenance of school and carrying out other academic activities are utilised suitably," the minister said.

She said the move aimed at associating villagers with the government schools to bring transparency in the system besides getting valuable suggestions from them to improve the quality of education.

"Current educational system can not be improved without participation of villagers in the school functioning," she asserted.

Bhukkal said dual desks were being arranged so that the students do not have to sit on 'taat-patti'.

"The government is focusing on infrastructure in the government schools...Kitchen sheds for mid day meal are being constructed and provision of 16 dishes has been made in the mid day meal keeping in view the taste of the children and nutrition value of the food," she said
