The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission will appoint as many as 389 new doctors for state Provincial Medical Services (PMS), officials said here today.
Of the 389 doctors, 336 will be medical officers and remaining would be specialists, they said, adding at present there are 8003 men and 1030 women doctors in PMS and over 4000 posts are still lying vacant.
Earlier this year, the state health department had advertised 5511 posts of doctors out of which UPPSC appointed 2349 doctors. But later less than 1000 doctors joined.
