North Bengal university has decided to reschedule the first semester examination for the first year philosophy students who were ragged, sources said today.
NBU examination for the first semester was scheduled to begin on January 3 and end on January 25.
Vice-chancellor, Arunabha Basu Majumder in a meeting with the faculty council yesterday decided to defer the philosophy examination for 'a few days' to help prepare the students as appealed but also decided to complete the exam by January 25 as per schedule.
The exam schedule for philosophy would be announced to the department within a day or two, Basu Majumder said.
Forty students of first year philosophy had appealed to the departmental head to defer the exam as they were mentally upset following ragging and could not prepare for the examination.
