French President Nicolas Sarkozy will address the top scientists at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) during his four-day visit to the country starting December 4. He and his wife Carla Bruni will be at the ISRO office between 12.30 pm to 1.40 pm on December 4.
This visit is aimed at further increasing cooperation in civil nuclear energy between India and France. India and France are jointly developing two satellites that are expected to be launched sometime next year. One of them is Megha Tropiques whose mission is to study the water cycle in the tropical atmosphere and the other is SARAL (Satellites for Argos and Altika) to monitor the sea water level.
The Argos and Altika payloads are built and supplied by France while the satellite building and launching are the responsibilities of ISRO.
