In collaboration with the ministry of Home affairs, the IGNOU will offer a certificate course in 'anti-human trafficking' from January next year.
The programme aims to groom students into well-informed professionals combating human trafficking, the university said in a statement here today.
"The programme will also seek to create awareness and provide comprehensive understanding in anti-human trafficking and develop understanding and coordination among learners about various stakeholders/agencies associated with anti-human trafficking," the statement said.
The certificate programme is open to any graduate or senior secondary school pass-out having five years of experience in related fields. Class X pass-out can also apply after doing 'bridge course' from IGNOU, the statement said.
The duration of the programme will be of six months, with a fees of Rs 2000. The medium of instruction will be English.
According to the statement, the programme will try to "build awareness in areas of law, policies, rehabilitation and prevention aspects of human trafficking and develop practical skills to engage with the process of understanding, rehabilitation, prevention and reintegration of human trafficking."
Admission for the programme will be open till December 20, the statement said.
