Spl camps planned to create awareness against ragging

Anti-ragging committees in government medical colleges in Tamil Nadu were keeping a close vigil to prevent ragging, a top health department official said today.
The committee would initiate stern action against students who involved in the evil practice, Director of Medical Education (DME) Dr. V.Kanagasabai told reporters here.

Plans were on for holding specials camps in all medical colleges to create awareness among the students against ragging, he said after inspecting the infrastructure
facilities in the Government Medical College here.

He said a Medical Council of India team would visit the college in February for reviewing the infrastructure facilities in the college and granting approval for fourth
year MBBS course for next acacemic year.

He said Rs 45 crore worth infrastructure works were in progress in the college to accommodate 400 MBBS students who would continue their House Surgeon course next academic year.

Presently, MCI had granted approval upto the third year.
