Delhi Government today promised to offer an additional fund of Rs 25 crore to Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, being developed as one of the best centres for technological education in the country.
The financial assistance has been promised at a meeting between board members of the institute and Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, an official said.
The institute was set up by Delhi Government in 2008. Officials said student intake at the institute is expected to increase from current 255 to 700 in the next two-three years.
Dikshit was briefed about progress of the institute being developed on the lines of the best technological institutes in the country. They said the institute has 17 faculty members and all of them are Ph.D.
"Moreover 12 out of them have obtained their Ph.Ds from US and European Universities," the official said.
IIIT-Delhi has been imparting B Tech course to 220 students M Tech to 20 students while 15 are doing their Ph.Ds.
