IIFT hosts National Trade and Logistics Symposium 2010

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) hosted a one day symposium on Trade and Logistics at its Kolkata campus on November 17. The presentations, conducted by IIFT and partner subject matter experts, included: The Rise of Africa and Opportunities for India, India Vs China in the Global Market, and Supply Chain Innovations to Overtake China.

 

The theme of the symposium was “Unlocking India’s Trade Potential”. Speaking on the occasion, KT Chacko, director IIFT said, “Our symposium focuses on the trade and logistics environment of India. It is an important step in our strategy to bring together thought leaders and industry spokespersons on a common platform”

 

Guest of honour, Dipankar Mukhopadhyay IAS, principal secretary commerce & Industries Department (WB) said, “The trade and logistics symposium is a touch point where we provide updates and insights on the industry. We also use this time to have open dialogue about our current and future needs specifically to strengthening relations with Africa as a trade partner and how India is poised to become the next economic super power vis-à-vis its competition with China.” Rajeev Singh, director general of ICC opined that security concerns that India has regarding China will be addressed if we have a greater stake in their economy.

 

The symposium was attended by Dipankar Mukhopadhyay, ML Meena, chairman, KOPT, Sanjeev Nandwani , Jt. DGFT, DS Rajan , former director, Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India, V. Shunmugam , chief economist, MCX, N N Kumar, deputy chairman JNPT, G Kanan , country head logistics , L&T.
