Autonomy to the IIMs

HRD Minister Kapil Sibal has said that a number of steps have been taken to provide autonomy to the IIMs. These include full powers to the Boards to create posts within the approved norms, the freedom to open centres in India and abroad, powers to approve their own budgets and also to manage the funds generated by them. However, Sibal said that autonomy should go hand in hand with accountability.

The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) and the Institute of Professional Accountants and Auditors of Russia (IPAR) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. IPAR is the only accounting body in Russia and also a member of the International Fed-eration of Accoun-tants. ICWAI has also signed MoUs with CIMA UK, IMA USA, ICMA of Sri Lanka and very recently also supported the promotion of a Cost and Management Accounting body in Oman.
