Choose the right course and institution wisely

Updated on: Thursday, November 11, 2010

We had discussed the various channels of studies that would take us to positions of officers in merchant navy. We should join only institutions which have current recognition of courses by DG Shipping. The list of recognised institutions is extracted below.

Do remember that the list is a changing phenomenon. There may be new institutions coming up. So also recognition awarded to certain institutions may be withdrawn for poor performance. It may so happen that an institution has recognition for one programme, but it calls for applications for admission to another programme expecting recognition at a later date. There would be permanently suspended/ temporarily suspended/ voluntarily closed/ approval withdrawn cases. You have to exercise caution in this regard. It is therefore advisable to check the DGS web site www.dgshipping.com and confirm live recognition for your chosen programme and institution, before you join.
