As the Chemical Education is undergoing major changes in the world, India needs to take cognisance of these changes and adopt them suitably, Association of Chemistry Teachers (ACT) said.
To achieve that, the ACT, along with the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), will jointly host the three-day International Conference on Education in Chemistry (ICEC-2010) from November 12 at suburban Mankhurd.
The three-day conference will have key note addresses, review talks, oral presentations and workshops related to chemistry content, pedagogy of chemistry and research in chemical education at tertiary level, ACT said.
Eminent speakers from Scotland, USA and India will be participating in ICEC-2010. The conference is primarily open to chemistry teachers in India, ACT said in a release and the venue of the conference will be HBCSE.
This is for the first time such a conference is being held in India and it has planned to hold such events every two years, HBCSE release said.
The present conference will expose chemistry teachers to different teaching methodologies, e-materials and other digital resources useful for teaching and learning chemistry, various assessment and evaluation methods and designing of
meaningful laboratory courses.
"Thus, the first and the forthcoming chemical education conference will contribute significantly towards effective teaching and learning of chemistry in the country,"
ACT added.
