Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) will organise Entrepreneurship Fair, 2010, to provide a platform to start-up firms and students of other B-Schools aspiring to become entrepreneur.
"This initiative is aimed at establishing a national level talent source for start-up firms. It provides a MBA student toying with the idea of starting his own venture, a
peep into real life challenges faced by any start-up firm," Chairperson, Placement Committee IIM-A, Prof. Saral Mukherjee said.
"This year, we are extending participation in the fair to all business schools across India, instead of restricting it to the IIM-A students," Mukherjee said, adding a start-up firm benefits from MBA interns who carry out 10-week projects.
The fair will bring together budding entrepreneurs from across the nation and some of the most successful start-up successes in India from diverse domain and background.
The event, to begin from November 7, will be a networking forum for students and start-up firms, after which students may express interest in seeking internships in these enterprises, an IIM-A statement said.
The participants will be encouraged to interact with any firm present on the day, find out more about them, their objectives, the initial seed idea, the challenges faced, the current status, opportunities within the sector, future plans and so on, the statement said.
The fair is being organised jointly by IIM-A Entrepreneurship Club and Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE).
"We hope that this fair will promote entrepreneurship as a career choice among all the students. For the visiting companies, this would be a chance to interact with talented individuals," Recruitment Secretary of Placement Committee Movin Jain said.
IIM-A will provide internship to a batch of 382 Post Graduate Programme in Management students, and 40 students of Post Graduate Programme in Agribusiness Management.
