The teachers of the Early Childhood Care Education diploma programme of the Podar Jumbo Kids recently held an anti-cracker drive across different schools in Mumbai. In a bid to promote a colourful but safe festival, the budding teachers delivered a talk highlighting the importance of the festival and the harmful effects of fire-crackers.
A puppet show was also put together in order to drive home the message to children from across various schools. “We are teaching our children at a young age to avoid loud crackers. This way, the message will be carried home and also to the society,” says Swati Popat Vats, Director of Podar Jumbo Kids.
The move is reflective of a trend seen across city schools in the past few years, where children are being taught the importance of maintaining a cleaner and safer environment and not burst crackers.
