Foundation stone of AMU's first off-campus on Nov 20

The foundation stone of Aligarh Muslim University's first off-campus will be laid in Murshidabad in West Bengal on November 20 and that of the second campus at Malapurram in Kerala in December.
Talking to reporters here today, AMU vice chancellor P.K. Abdul Azis said both the campuses will be offering LLB and MBA programmes.

President Pratibha Patil, in her capacity as the Visitor of the varsity, had recently given consent for the establishment of the two campuses.

The foundation stone laying function of the Murshidabad campus will be attended by HRD Minister Kapil Sibal, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.

Aziz said setting up of similar centres in Pune, Bhopal and Kishanganj in Bihar could take some time as the issue of providing land for establishment of these campuses
are still being worked out.

Several other states like Assam, Harayana and Tamil Nadu have come forward offering land for setting of AMU regional centres in their states, he said.
