Mumbai: University of Mumbai is exploring possibilites of collaboration with Universities in Malaysia for both faculty and students exchange programmes.
'Malaysian universities are keen to have collaboration with Mumbai university and other universities in India as they are short of faculty in higher education especially in the field of medicine, bioinformatics and biotechnology,' Vice-Chancellor Vijay Khole said.
'Malaysian government's higher education officials who were here during the weekend said they would also have student exchange programmes with the university,' Khole said.
During the Malaysian visit to the university, Khole said, 'we presented our areas of strength in higher education.'
Malaysian ministry of higher education officials said that they wanted to make their country as a centre for excellence in higher education and we have come here to talk to university officials in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Pondicherry, Hyderabad and Chandigarh.
The Ministry officials have brought faculty and other staff from eight Malaysian universities and had a two day exhibition.
The officials also met Vice-Chancellor of SNDT Women's University and visited K C college, St. Xavier's college, Welinkar management institute, Vidyalankar engineering college and South Indian Education society.
