Pune: In a survey conducted by the Times Higher Education Review, the University of Pune has figured in top 100 Asian universities. “This is for the first time that the review has been done at Asia level and UoP has ranked 100th in this survey,” said V-C Narendra Jadhav on Sunday. Termed as the ‘QS World University Rankings’, there are only four traditional Indian universities that figure in the top 100 institutions. The chart is topped by University of Delhi (60th rank), followed by UoP at 100 and Calcutta University and Mumbai University at 110 and 130th rank respectively.
Meanwhile, training of teachers in disaster management will begin from next week. The UoP has made it compulsory for BA, BSc and BCom students to complete a course in disaster management from 2009-10 academic year. Three teachers from colleges affiliated to the UoP will be trained in disaster management along with five-day practicals at the batallion of National Disaster Management Authority at Talegaon.
