The Kerala High Court today quashed a communication issued by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) declining approval to six self-financing engineering colleges in the state.
Holding that the colleges had satisfied all conditions and completed all prescribed procedures, Justice T R Ramachandran Nair said denial of letters of approval cannot be sustained.
Christ Knowledge City, Irapuram; Ernakulathapan Charitable Trust, Nirmala Charitable Trust, Chalakudy; S N G Trust, Kottayam; G Karunakara Memorial Perurkada, Thiruvanathapauram and Nurul Islam, Thodupuzha had been denied
approval by AICTE against which it had approached the high court.
Meanwhile, in another proceeding, Justice Antony Dominic stayed for two months the proceedings of Justice P A Mohammed Committee against the admission made by four self-financing Christian medical colleges in the state.
On Sept 24, the Mohammed committee found that the admissions made to these colleges were 'irregular' and not transparent.
Challenging this, the Kerala Christian Private College Management Federation approached the court following which the Mohammed Committee proceedings were stayed.
