The students in Delhi can rejoice as the schools have been shut for 18 days, on account of the Common Wealth Games (CWG) slated to begin from October 3. This would not affect the studies adversely as most schools had already adjusted their holidays in a way that the average total number of leaves is in accordance with the norms.
The Delhi government had informed the schools a year in advance about these holidays giving the schools ample time to prepare themselves. The government had asked them to reduce the number of holidays in summer vacations which helped the schools compensate for the holidays during the CWG.
Several schools had undertaken extra measures to ensure that students do not fall behind in their curriculum. These measures include extra classes organised for students so that the syllabus can be completed on time.
The schools will remain closed to allow the students witness this sporting spectacle. This would also help ease traffic on the roads.
